Polyvore // Outfit Inspiration #4

Untitled #19

To me, this is the ultimate drinks with the girls outfit. I love the matchy-matchiness of the embroidered kimono and crop top from Topshop paired with some black Topshop Joni Jeans which every girl should have in her wardrobe. I actually bought these ASOS Hoxton heels a few weeks ago as the 'barely there' heel is by far my favourite.

DIY // OMBRE TURQUOISE HAIR INSPIRED BY KYLIE JENNER

L'OREAL WILD OMBRE HAIR DYE 2 FOR £8 ASDA
L'OREAL GLAM LIGHTS HIGHLIGHTING KIT 2 FOR £8 ASDA
PROVOKE TOUCH OF SILVER BRIGHTENING SHAMPOO £1.59
LA RICHE DIRECTIONS TURQUOISE SEMI-PERMANENT HAIR DYE  £3.30

I have had 21 years of boring brown hair and how I came about dying my hair turquoise is fairly odd. Last week I had a dream that I dyed my hair turquoise and I woke up the next morning thinking 'yes Ruby, go to the beauty supply store, buy the stuff and just do it'. I then swiftly talked myself out of it, but a few days later mentioned it to my boyfriend and he said to just go for it. I actually didn't have Kylie Jenner in mind when doing it, but the outcome was pretty reminiscent of her hair.
I couldn't be bothered as well as couldn't afford to get this done in a salon, so improvised and did it myself. I had already slightly ombred my hair a few weeks previously with the L'Oreal Wild Ombre Kit which came out okay but I was looking quite brassy and the purple shampoo didn't really do much to help tone it down. So to lighten it further I used the L'Oreal Glam Lights Highlighting Kit, all of these products have basically if not the exact same ingredients. Be under no assumption that these products won't damage your hair - any lightening product will contain hydrogen peroxide aka bleach which is always going to dry out and damage your hair in some way shape or form. The lighter your hair is, the truer the colour will be in the end. With the highlighting kit I managed to get my ends as light as possible without my hair falling out. After this step I really should have toned my hair as it was very yellow, plus going a blue/green shade, mixed with yellow it will end up a nasty green shade which I found on the first application of the turquoise dye. To keep the colour vibrant I stuck a spoonful of the turquoise dye in with my conditioner so my hair got a bit of a pick me up. After the first wash I also went out and bought a cobalt blue colour so that with the yellowness in my hair it would go a truer turquoise.

Even though I do like this colour a lot, there's a lot of clothes that I can't wear as they would clash with my hair. I'm basically confined to black, grey, white and denim. It was fun while it lasted, and it definitely attracted a lot of attention, but I think I'll probably go back to brown pretty soon.

Lotsa Love.

Beauty // Summer Makeup Essentials

SIMPLE OIL BALANCING MOISTURISER £4
BENEFIT THE POREFESSIONAL PRIMER £24.50
COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER £4.99
SMASHBOX PHOTO READY BB CREAM £27
SEVENTEEN INSTANT GLOW BRONZER £4.59
BOBBI BROWN POWDER BLUSH IN NECTAR £19.50
MAYBELLINE BABY LIPS LIP BALM £3.99
REVLON COLOUR BURST LIP CRAYON £7.99
MAC FIX + POWDER £19.50
MAC FIX + TRAVEL SIZE £7

I bought the Smashbox Photo Ready BB Cream after seeing Carli Bybel and SMLx0 on Youtube mention it. It's oil free which is perfect for me and gives a light coverage, enough to even out my skin tone. If I have any blemishes I use a full coverage concealer underneath - obviously the infamous Collection Lasting Perfection.

As most make up obsessed girls know, a good matte bronzer is hard to find. And since I'm now too tanned for my beloved Nars Laguna, I had to go on the hunt for a darker alternative and this Seventeen Instant Glow Bronzer fits the bill - it's totally matte and not too orange.

I know everyone raves about using cream make up products in the summer, but being on the oily-combination side of the skin type spectrum, in the heat of the sun they just don't work well enough for me. One of my favourite blushes is the Bourjois cream blush in no2, but I can only go a couple of hours in the sun without it melting off my face. Powder products are guaranteed to stay all day and if you like a dewier finish like me, a finishing spray will sort that out for you. I'm also usually all for the coral blushes, but since dying my ombre turquoise, the colours really don't look great. So I've drifted back to the Bobbi Brown blush in Nectar which is a dusky pink shade.

I've also had to ditch the coral lips that I usually rock on a daily basis, which basically rules out 90% of my lip products. However, I've fallen back in love with the Revlon Colour Burst Lip Crayons as they are perfect for the summer months. They are hydrating and super low maintenance which is always good for a day at the beach or even a night out.

Finally to set everything in place, I use the Mac Fix+ Powder which I carry everywhere with me. It not only sets the BB Cream but adds a tiny but more coverage where I need it. Plus, when I'm looking oily throughout the day, a swipe of this powder and I'm good to go. I then go in with my Mac Fix+ Spray which is a summer must have. It can be used before or after applying your foundation and will improve the longevity of your make up - it's also super refreshing when it's hot outside.

I'd love to know your summer make up essentials!

Lotsa Love.

Palms ?

The days where you can lounge around in the garden in a crop top and shorts have finally arrived! We seem to have got quite lucky with the weather in England at the moment considering we're used to rain, rain and more rain. This is the perfect casual summer outfit that could also be transferred to a night out in my opinion. The ribbed crop top is from Topshop, I have about 5 colours they are just so versatile and comfortable. The palm print shorts are from New Look along with the chunky gladiator sandals which are so on trend at the moment. And I'd finish it off with this silver diamanté necklace from H&M to dress it up a bit.

Lotsa Love.

OUTFIT // Aztec Dreamz

H&M NEON SHEER TOP
TOPSHOP TALL AZTEC PELMET SKIRT
RIVER ISLAND BLACK AND WHITE SANDALS
EBAY SIVER BODY CHAIN

Here's another outfit from the shoot I did with my cousin a couple of weeks ago. Believe it or not this skirt is from the Topshop tall range. I'm only 5'5 and its pretty short on me so I'm not sure who they're kidding. Nevertheless, it's beautiful and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I paired it with this neon coral top from H&M which is such a summery colour and brightens any complexion. I'm massively obsessed with the chunky sandal trend at the moment and River Island is the place to go for them. River Island actually regramed my photo of these sandals on Instagram the other day which I was pretty proud of!
